250 ml milk 25 g cornmeal 1 pinch salt 150 g butter 120 g sugar 2 eggs 1 packet baking powder 150 g grated almonds 1 orange or blood orange 1 tsp. powdered sugar
Bring the milk to boil with a pinch of salt
Stir in the corn grits and bring the whole thing to boil until a thick, not too firm mass is formed
Set it aside and let it cool down
In the meantime, stir the butter, sugar and eggs until frothy
Add the grated almonds with baking powder and stir everything together
Add the zest of an orange or a blood orange to the batter
Finally, mix everything with the corn semolina
Spread the mixture on a baking sheet lined with baking paper
Bake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 50 minutes
Stir the juice of the orange with the powdered sugar until smooth
Take the cake out of the oven
Poke small holes in the still small holes in the warm cake with a thick wooden skewer
